Step Into UNESCO Storybook Nova Scotia: Lunenburg + Mahone Bay

Lunenberg

Hi ,
Our Nova Scotia Nordic Spa road trip continues — and today I’m taking you to one of the most memorable days of our entire journey. If you love colourful seaside towns, maritime history, great food, and gentle adventure, then you’re going to absolutely fall for Lunenburg and Mahone Bay.
We created two brand new posts to help you explore these coastal gems with ease, inspiration, and that slow-travel magic that Nova Scotia does so well.
A Perfect Day in Lunenburg & Mahone Bay

BernArt Maze
This is the post that captures the feeling of the South Shore — gentle harbours, artisan shops, cozy cafes, ocean breezes, and three iconic churches rising above Mahone Bay like a postcard.
In this day guide, we share:
Our favourite breakfast and coffee spots
The best waterfront wandering
Breweries and lunch options
Artisan shops and galleries you shouldn’t miss
A whimsical outdoor maze (yes, really!)
The prettiest viewpoints and photo stops
Why these towns feel like the heart of Nova Scotia
It’s an easy, relaxed, joy-filled day — and one of our top recommendations for first-time visitors.
Lunenburg Walking Tour — The Essential Guide

Fisherman’s Memorial
If you want to feel like you’ve stepped into a real-life painting, wander Lunenburg. Its UNESCO World Heritage streets are filled with bright buildings, creaking wharf boards, and centuries of seafaring stories.
On our walking tour, we learned the fascinating history behind the town’s perfectly preserved architecture, the fishing traditions that built it, and little local insights that made the place come alive. You’ll meet the Bluenose II, discover hidden lookouts, and soak up the kind of charm you just can’t experience from a car window.
Both posts include practical tips, the must-sees, hidden gems, and of course — personal stories from our visit. Lunenburg and Mahone Bay completely captured our hearts, and I know they’ll do the same to you.
Let me know which town you’d explore first… and if you’ve already been, hit reply and share your favourite memory!
With wanderlust,
Caroline
